Where Can I Get Atmel Avr Chips For Prototyping In The Uk?
I know you can get PIC microchips form maplin but where can a student get AVR microchips in the uk? is their some kind of reseller? I just don’t want to pay huge rates for shipping. mainly ATtiny2313 and ATmega168′s. Thanks in advance, LC.
What Is Rapid Prototyping Exactly?
hi
i would like to know abt Rapid Prototyping in simple words…….
i dont want the technical data i.e. technique, method, etc.
but want the answer in such words than any non technical person can understand what RP is?
so, plz dont answer technically
technical link is not expected…………………

Working With 3d Modelling And Rapid Prototyping
I am interested to see if there are any oppertunities in South Korea for Engineers working with 3D modeling (Solid Edge) and Rapid Prototype machines, Stratasys Titan FDM or EnvisionTec Perfactory? I am currently working in the UK and have been using this technology for many years and would like to transfer my skills to work in South Korea.
Many thanks.
After Fpga Prototyping? Is It Better To Convert To Asic Chips For The Purpose Of Security?
I am trying to develop a new time system and need to use the FPGA for protyping. If successful, I wants to convert to ASIC chip. Is this a good solution? Or is there a better alternative? For copyright purpose. Thanks.

Footwear Prototyping in 3d
The need for footwear prototyping has been made easier for designers through advancements in prototyping technology. From the conceptual to testing stage the technology has improved footwear prototyping production speed and cost. Rapid prototype technology enhances the footwear prototyping design process by producing models for vendors, manufacturers and consumers. Rapid prototyping produces an actual footwear prototype model that can be displayed, worn and enhanced by designers. Conventional footwear prototyping methods are both time consuming and costly. The cost of footwear prototyping is multiplied each time a change is necessary to the design. Using a rapid prototyping technology to enhance footwear prototyping designs is cost efficient and cuts a great deal of time off the various stages of footwear development.
Cost Efficient Footwear Prototyping
The Advantage of Footwear Prototyping
Cost Efficient Footwear Prototyping
Advancements in footwear prototyping allow the production of footwear models in many other kinds of materials besides plastics. Using polyurethane, polyester or epoxy prototypes can be produced for a number of footwear designs from a diverse menu of materials. Comparing the production cost of footwear prototyping with traditional tooling footwear prototyping using 3D technology is the most cost effective method. Using 3D technology to produce footwear prototypes creates numerous advantages such as being able to control the number of prototypes produced, fabrication materials and production schedules.
Footwear prototyping using rapid prototyping techniques helps to reduce the bottom line cost of research and development by facilitating the prototyping process. Footwear prototyping and development is a costly feature and prototype design and production can add considerable expense to a project. Utilizing a rapid prototyping technology with footwear prototyping will streamline the process and cut costs where design changes have to be made. Rapid prototyping eliminates many of the costs associated with conventional prototype production including expensive tooling, redesign costs and delayed product development.
The Advantage of Footwear Prototyping
Rapid prototyping technology assists in the footwear prototyping marketing phase by producing prototypes that consumers can assess and use. Where redesigning, retooling and recreating prototypes took a considerable amount of time, footwear prototyping can have a redesigned prototype ready for the next phase of product research and in a much shorter period of time then conventional methods. Product testing often requires product redesign, by having an efficient footwear prototyping technology available testing can continue according to schedule without any undue expense. Consumers or manufacturers can add input into the design phase and base their requests on various footwear prototypes made available during the development stages.
Footwear prototyping is able to reduce the risk of manufacturing footwear products no one is ever going to buy. Enhancing the marketing research for companies, footwear prototyping is flexible and allows companies to make the necessary changes to products in a cost efficient manner before they send the product to manufacturers. Consumers can give input at each stage of the process until all parties are sure they have a winning product that consumers will buy. Footwear prototyping that produces an actual working product as close to the final design is the best kind of prototype for use in market research. The ability to merge both the design and marketing stages with footwear prototyping can only produce a better product for all.

How Do You Determine If An Invention Is Worth Patenting And Prototyping Or Just A Silly Idea?
I’ll make some prototypes, show/give them to friends and to people I believe to be the ‘market’, and usually get positive feedback. But I feel they’re just being polite or don’t want to offend me with a negative critique. Further advice on bringing a gadget to production, to market would be greatly appreciated.
Planning functional requirements using Justinmind Prototyper
Have you ever created an early project plan, or a simple wireframe — maybe to get approval for the project — only to find it unworkable when you started tracking progress? With the right start, you can ensure that the plan you create at the beginning of your project is an effective management tool throughout the project.
The first step is to understand all the requirements. In this stage, you’ll need to gather everyone involved in conceptualizing what’s going to be done, and write that down. You can draw a simple wireframe and sketches of the final project too.
Business Analysts and Project Managers are vital for this, and also Key Users, to understand what they need and want from the final product. We recommend a team of 5 people maximum, to avoid empty discussion and eternal meetings.
They’ll get together and write the first list of requirements needed, as much detailed as it can be. The Requirements list will be a briefing of the project, for developers, designers and coders.
Understanding the audience
The users of the projects must be studied. The usage, too. How people will use it is very important and can decide the success or fail of any development project. It is very important that your project is useful and severs a purpose for your selected audience.
People are not equal, and not everyone use software or websites the way you do. It’s important to step on the users’ shoes and understand their thinking, needs and values. After all, they are the ones who’ll use it.
This is why we recommend to have key users involved in the planning phase, and, if it may be, future or potential users.
Creating killer content
It is very important to think about what really interests people and how will they react to what you are offering them. Earning peoples’ attention is normally a one timer: if they don’t get interested in the first time, it’s probable they won’t be a second one. So, think about your users and amuse them.
Designing for human beings – help people
Some people just cannot focus enough on design, on thinking how form and function interact and how people interact with them. There are several unconscious and sub-conscious elements that can change users’ perceptions about a website or a program, and simply helping them find the specific button, or understanding how the program works, or even simpler: having the application have a pretty look. The design can improve a lot with the use of wireframes. Nowadays, there’s no excuse for having a poor looking app.
Technology – it cannot be possibly done
We all know the story of the beetle that cannot fly, according to aerodynamic laws. However, sometimes project fail because someone thinks that creating something is possible, or can be easily done, but actually takes too many work hours or too many people involved or some technology that’s not currently available to all. So, it’s very important to plan everything and discuss with technicians and experts to understand what’s going to be done.
Project Management – following the plan
Even when we get a map, sometimes we get lost. Why? Because somewhere during the travel, we forgot to keep track of where we were. This is to show how important it is to control the evolution, the iteration cycles, the steps and accomplishments. They’ll avoid the feeling of being completely lost, of not knowing where you are and how you got there in the first place.
