Any way to convert a jet/laser printer into a 3d one?

I have been always interested in making a 3d printer. However, all the sites I have found say you will have to pay $2000+ for supplies to build it. Is there anyway I can use a laser printer or ink printer I have already and “transform” it into a working, 3d one?!? Thanks.
It also has to be CHEAP

Interesting idea. I don’t think inkjet/laser printer technology is convertible. I believe 3D “printers” use lasers but it’s a different arrangement than a conventional toner cartridge and drum.
