3D House Design Software

3D House Design Software are programs that allow you to build a house virtually. A better 
name for this is Cad (computer aided design). Personally, I took a course in Cad for 
Architecture and built a house before on a much more expensive (30,000 dollars a license!) 
software program that required a dongle to run. There are many different options for house 
building software out there, some are easy and others take a lot of work. Most homeowners 
(or anyone who isn’t an architect) aren’t required and have no need of having the highest 
end software in this field. There are better options out there.  Here are a few programs, 
ranging in price from free to…well costing money. The free ones might be harder to use and 
have less options, and the more expensive ones will be easier to get exactly what your 
vision is. Regardless of what you plan on choosing, here are the 5 I think prevail enough to 
be recognized as choices.

Design Workshop Lite

Design Workshop Lite is a free program with the option to upgrade for .95. This is a dated 
program but can complete the tasks needed. Graphics got better since the time of this 
product was released. The famous saying I like to think about is “Beggars can’t be 
choosers”.

Punch Design Software Suite

Punch is a great program for easily laying out the plan. Any home or landscape project can 
be only a few clicks away as its large database and simple commands make it very highly 
praised for consumers. Prices and products range from .99 for Bathroom only to 9.99 for  the mega- everything they make included version.

IMSI Turbofloorplan Instant Architect 12I

MSI Turbofloorplan Instant Architect 12 is excellent at designing floor plans and 3d models 
quickly. Turbofloorplan Instant Architect 12 gives you everything you need to design your 
home! Quickly design realistic 3D models of your home or remodeling project with no 
experience necessary! Create the perfect home exactly how you dreamed it would be. Great for home re-modelers and do-it-yourselfers.

Plan3DPlan

3D is the online option for busy people! It is great for home deisgn, interior design, 
and landscape design work. The program is paid by month. Design one room, create a three 
story home, remodel a bathroom or kitchen, or redo your yard. Plan3D lets you see ideas with 
dimensions in blueprint-like mode. Best of all, you see your ideas come to life in realistic 
3D models.

Google SketchUp

Google is breaking into every imaginable thing the world has to offer it seems like. Google 
SketchUp can be used to create houses and landscapes. This is the most difficult of all the 
other programs here to use as you must be the artist and make what you want yourself. The program is free and fun to play with for all reasons.

3D CAD models are created by CAD drafting services that specialize in 3D Modeling. These companies more times than most are in the mechanical drawing field because they deal with mechanical parts that must be 3D modeled with special software. Architect’s are now starting to use CAD software that is extremely similar in quite a few ways. For instance, you can create 3D walls and door’s by selecting which dimensions you want and inserting them into the CAD drafting software. It will instantly create a wall with an exact width, length, and height.

Technology is really starting to catch on when it comes to design and designing 3D CAD models. You can actually design something on CAD like a gear for instance. Send the drawing file to a special shop that has CNC machines made specifically for machine parts, and have it created in an instant. This could be used for any number of things like parts on the space shuttle, or what about a bicycle frame. The limitations to 3D CAD models are basically limitless. Anything the mind can imagine, can be designed with this CAD drafting tool, and nothing is out of reach. The only thing holding someone back from designing any 3D CAD model they want is their imagination.

3D CAD modeling has taken over the days of the ordinary draftsmen and his drafting table. With an array of tools at the fingertips of the CAD drafter the drafting board doesn’t have a chance. Believe me though I’m not extremely excited or anything, I actually grew up using one of these and that’s the reason why I’m in the drafting field now. Technology with 3D CAD models is just going to get more advanced, and user friendly as time goes on. More sophisticated designs will be produced, and the software will make the job easier for draftsmen.

I want to design and build a house and walk through it in 3D. Also it would be nice to have a feature to generate a materials list.
Also must be affordable under $1000 if possible.

This is an easy way to reverse engineer an Oracle database.. All day long I’ve been trying to work with Oracle Designer and it took me half a day to install a repository in order to make Oracle Designer work..and the result was not what I expected.
