Sketch Based Rapid Interaction Prototyping
This video presents a platform in which interaction designers can effectively and rapidly develop tangible interactive prototypes in by sketching. The study aims to build a platform that plays the role of sketch in hardware-software integrated interactive product design process. The platform consists of three components: a sketch based interactive concept exploration software application called STCtools, a set of physical user interface(PUI) widgets with a key converter and a video projection based augmented reality desk. For prototyping, a designer creates hardware and software sketches in pen based computers using STCtools. Sketches of hardware and software are drawn in a client device and composed in an electronic whiteboard in a server device. PUI widgets can be physically attached on a foam mockup or on a screen of the client device. The hardware-software integrated simulations are examined on a video projection based Augmented Reality desk (ARdesk). The sketch simulation is captured and projected onto a paper marker created with invisible infra-red ink. Tek-Jin Nam Department of Industrial Design KAIST
Visual Basic: Reverse engineer a file based database? ?
I purchased a PC program used for NFL handicapping. It came with historical data going way back to 2001. I am a techie at heart and would like to experiment with my own formulas and use the raw statistical data that came with the program but it appears to be in a proprietary or encrypted format. There is one file for each years’ worth of statistics named with a “.nfl” extension. I tried opening the files with a binary editor but the data is completely unrecognizable. It is a VB application.
Is anyone aware of a flat file based database used by Visual Basic that may be being utilized here? Any suggestion on how to reverse engineer the data files? Or is it possible the data is encrypted, in which case it would be virtually impossible to decrypt?
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
