Can Modernist Designs Created Today Be Called Traditional?

i am doing research for my dissertation, which is on modernism but not sure what exactly yet!!
i am trying to figure out if designs made today following the same principles and materials etc as modernism can be called so.
modernism has been around since late 19th century, the materials and processes of modernist movement were new then, but are not today, they are old. does this not then make these traditional in today’s society?
if we are to have designs that follow the same principles as modernists then surely designers should be using new and innovative processes and materials from todays world, such as the rapid prototyping (stereolithography) techniques that are being continually developed.
can these be called modernist?
